Q: I AM AN UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE/PHD STUDENT, CAN I SIGN UP FOR THE TRANSIT SUBSIDY PROGRAM AND RECEIVE A 50% DISCOUNT?
A: The subsidy program is currently only being offered to USC employees, and is processed through USC payroll deduction; USC students can apply for a free L.A. Metro U-Pass tap card instead (details online here)
Q: I CURRENTLY HAVE A SENIOR CITIZEN TRANSIT PASS, WILL I BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SUBSIDY?
A: Yes! As long as you are a current USC employee, you are eligible for the 50% discount on your transit pass costs.
Q: CAN I HAVE A TRANSIT PASS AND A USC TRANSPORTATION PARKING PASS AT THE SAME TIME?
A: Yes, you can have both at the same time if you wish, but they must be paid for in full independently of each other; there is no discount available because you use each mode only a portion of the time.
Q: WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A PARKING PASS AND NEED TO BRING MY VEHICLE TO CAMPUS ON A GIVEN DAY?
A: Transit program participants are eligible for up to three free daily permits per month at the USC Shrine, Figueroa, or Grand Avenue parking structures, for those occasions when they need to bring a vehicle to campus (including USC game days!) HSC participants have the same privileges at Lot 71 or the O’Neal Lot.
Q: I AM CURRENTLY IN A VAN/CAR POOL; WILL 50% OF MY COSTS ALSO BE SUBSIDIZED?
A: Not at this time; this subsidy program is currently being implemented for transit passes only. Please contact USC Transportation for more information/to request that these transportation modes be considered in the future.
Q: WHEN CAN I SIGN UP ONLINE?
A: As soon as you know you want to use public transportation! Some programs have specific registration windows for first-time applicants, and all programs have pass activation windows; it all depends on when your application is submitted. The best thing to do is complete the online application form as soon as you know, and email us at tsubsidy@usc.edu if you have any questions.
